Neighborhood Boys' Club at Front and Queen Streets

Front & Queen streets

Neighborhood Boys Club was the center of community life. A converted seamans' church, the club provided boys in that neighborhood an opportunity to actively participate in billiards, ping pong, scouting and basketball. Unfortunately, this historic building was destroyed to allow some politically connected individual to raze the building and build the town houses that now occupy that location. That building should never have been destroyed. I believe the club remained in existence until the late 1950s. The club was a great place for boys.
