Di Bruno Brothers: "The Open-Mindedness of Food"

930 S. 9th Street

For many Philadelphian’s when we think of cheese we think of a stretch of 9th Street in South Philadelphia. And on that stretch we think of a few stores in particular. And one of these stores in DiBruno Brother’s. This spot, their “flagship store” is thimble-sized compared the newer shop in Rittenhouse Square. Though only five or so people can comfortably fit in it at a time, many more do so with great regularity.

Emilio Mignucci is the grandson of the original owner, Mr. DiBruno himself. He grew up walking the streets of the market and rarely saw a day go by without experiencing and tasting something new. Though over the years he has seen the market change—for both better and worse—Emilio is happy to see its intrinsic spirit remain.
