Philadelphia Arab-American Development Corporation: "A Portal of Arab Migration"

1501 Germantown Avenue

There are somewhere between 25,000 and 30,000 Arab-Americans living in the greater Philadelphia area. The Philadelphia Arab-American Community Development Corporation strives to preserve their culture and language, to empower the Arab-American community and promote its economic development, and to combat racial, ethnic, and religious discrimination.

They try to foster connections between various groups of Arab immigrants by providing crucial services, social networking, food drives, and youth programming. Although they are not officially connected, the PAACDC shares a building with the Al-Aqsa Islamic Society’s mosque, because, as Zeina Halabi, associate director, explains, people tend to congregate where they worship.
