Completed in 2000 as part of Philadelphia's renowned Mural Arts Program, the mural depicts the Italian American devotion to St. Mary Magdalen de Pazzi. Every year the Italian-American community pays homage to St. Mary Magdalen de Pazzi by presenting a parade on her feast day. During the religious procession, jewelry or money would be placed on the saint's statue. In recent years, this procession has been incorporated into the annual "9th Street Italian Market Festival," a street fair which combines the commercial and the cultural, and is sponsored by local businesses.
